Finding the Best Handmade Leather Wallet.
I’ve spent many many hours over the past five years trying to design the best handmade leather wallet - tweaking the size, card slots, angles, edges, testing, refining, pausing for reflection... A few millimetres here, a fold there, and so the cycle begins. And all in the pursuit of the best handmade vegetable tanned leather wallet made here in the UK.
Over the course of my leather accessory design career I’ve found many - men in particular - dream of a bespoke handcrafted leather wallet, but have specific and discerning needs. I’ve had requests for wallets that are small but spacious, sleek yet with many pockets, sized to just fit one card, sized to fit lots and lots of cards. This has kept peaking my interest. I just can’t resist a challenge.
For something so small it’s perhaps surprising to hear I’ve found this challenge tricky. As soon as I think I’ve nailed it, along comes another request. And, admittedly, sometimes I’ve had to take a break, parking it until there’s more time and space for thought.
But after all this deliberation, it’s time to hunker down and take inspiration from all the ideas and chats. And after giving it plenty of thought I’ve realised wallets are special; perhaps because they’re often the only accessory and a companion at your side every day, constantly touched and opened and holding a unique personal value.
After many twists and turns I’ve gone full circle concluding that, above all, simplicity in design tends to win the day. And choice is vital; it’s impossible to please everyone with one style - you need options.
